Welcome to fourhandsplus.com, the new site dedicated to making long out-of-print arrangements for two or more pianists available again. With such steady interest in this medium despite the difficulties in obtaining material we feel it's time to bring this repertoire out into the light, and hopefully introduce a whole new generation of players to it's delights.

Apart from bringing out new editions of old arrangements, we will be publishing completely new transcriptions as well. To start this side of our catalogue, we are very pleased to be able to make available arrangements of Haydn String Quartets by Professor Robin Holloway, a long time enthusiast of piano duets. Professor Holloway has arranged some 30 of the quartets (except the 15 which were available from Peters Edition and the works of Haydn's youth), and we start with Op. 20 and Op. 77. Op. 20 1-3 and Op. 77 are available now, (as are the 15 formerly available from Peters Edition). Op. 20 4-6 are coming soon.

Our editions will be supplied wire bound, printed on 90gsm white cartridge, with covers on 220gsm board making them both hard wearing and long lasting.

Coming soon

The Op. 20 4-6 will finally be available, with Op. 103 completed by Professor Holloway following hot on it's heels. We are also launching a series of duet books aimed specifically at the beginner player, but with the other part to be played by a much more experienced pianist which makes the duet experience so much more satisfying for the beginner. The books will feature traditional composers such as John Kinross, Felix Swinstead and Leon d'Ourville along side contemporary composers such as Christopher Norton of the world-famous Microjazz series and John Glenesk Mortimer.

Special Print Order Series

Our new editions of out-of-print works will be scanned and enhanced, creating a clearer black and white image. These will form the basis of our Special Print Order Series, where we are able to produce “on demand” even a single copy of any work listed in our extensive catalogue. These copies will be supplied printed on 100gsm paper, with covers at 160gsm and again wire-o bound. You can request any work from our Future Publications or In Preparation pages by emai. We will then contact you with a price and estimated time of delivery.l

How do we decide what to make available?

To bring the widest choice of music and combinations of players back into print, we have access to private collections whose owners are highly experienced players as well as enthusiasts, and collectively have an unrivalled knowledge of piano music for multiple players. They know which composers and works are in demand and which transcribers are best. However, we would like to hear from you which pieces you would like to source, so please send us an email via the contact page with your wish list - there's an excellent chance that we will already have it, and if not, will be able to get it! So send us that wish list!

While we are launching our venture with a relatively small catalogue we will be adding to it rapidly, aiming to develop a collection that is new to the market, as well as making currently very difficult or impossible to obtain material available again.

Future publications page

These lists represent only a small portion of the works we have access to! New pieces are continually being added to our database and will soon appear on this web site. Please note that some of these works may still be in copyright even though they are out of print.  If this is the case, we can try to contact the copyright holder and request permission to make the work available again through fourhandsplus.com.
